Barcelona Set to Play First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend

Barça revealed they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside based on approved permits. When completed, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. The club said finished work included a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized a public practice inside the stadium in early November. The club said approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
