Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt able to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a embargo on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a official listing listing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the deaths, public individuals shared different comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the critics last week. Talking on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "disturbing" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide could have stepped in when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
